“We connect professionals to promote the reciprocating compressor on the path to a carbon neutral world”
The European Forum for Reciprocating Compressors (EFRC) was founded in June 1999 as a non-profit association by 8 of the leading institutions of the recip-community, namely:
- HOERBIGER Ventilwerke GmbH (Component Supplier, Austria)
- Leobersdorfer Maschinenfabrik GmbH (OEM*, Austria)
- Neuman & Esser GmbH & Co. KG (OEM, Germany)
- Burckhardt Compression AG (former Sulzer-Burckhardt Engineering Works Ltd.; OEM, Switzerland)
- Technische Universität Dresden (Germany)
- Howden Thomassen (former Thomassen International bv;
OEM, The Netherlands) - TNO Institut of Applied Physics (RESEARCH**, The Netherlands)
- Wärtsilä Compression Systems GmbH (OEM, Germany)
The aim was to build a vivid forum incorporating the principles of commercial conferences as well as of an institution promoting the interests of compressor users and compressor industry. More than twenty years later, our ambitions have expanded to include training classes on various compressor subjects as well as a student workshop to attract young talents. Our geographical reach has grown from Central Europe to entire Europe and to the US from 8 initial members to more than 40 as of now. Looking into the future, the role of the reciprocating compressor in the ongoing energy transition is even more crucial.
Therefore we are aiming to
- further expand the number of members
- have a healthy mix of endusers, OEMs, component suppliers, engineering companies and universities & research organisations.
We want to reach our goals by focusing on Member Experience, Innovation, Cooperation and Knowledge generation – provided by active members that e.g.
- perform R&D projects
- create white papers
- develop industry standards and guidelines
- deliver trainings
- and much more
