Survey of Valve Systems for piston expansion machines
Using a reciprocating compressor for compression and expansion of gas in for example natural gas storage stations would be very efficient. The goal of the study is to provide information on application scenarios, design criteria and existing valve systems for use in reciprocating expanders.
Literature Survey on Cylinder Gas Passage Pulsations
Issues are frequently encountered in the field, that appear to be associated with high pulsations in the Cylinder Gas Passage of reciprocating compressors. These pulsations may cause integrity issues with compressor valves, excessive losses, pressure overshoot, excessive heating, cylinder vibrations and noise. In this literature survey the basic physical mechanisms, typical negative consequences, analysis and identification methods and typical mitigation strategies will be highlighted. To this purpose, background information from literature, conferences and interviews with experienced operators will be consulted. This R&D project is considered as a first phase, to formulate the need for future implementation into a Guideline.
